ABOUT PLAUENER SEIDENWEBEREI
Textile tradition since 1928
Plauener Seidenweberei GmbH stands for more than 75 years of fabrics manufacturing, specializing in silk. In Plauen silkworms were bred for the manufacturing of parachutes as early as the 1950s. These years of experience in handling the natural product silk, and its processing in a full-step process allow us to manufacture our products at a very high level.
On May 30th 1928, the silk weaving mill was founded as „Spinnhütte Seidenspinnerei und Weberei GmbH“ by Mr. Wilhelm Wilke. Merger and change of name created the „Seidenwerke Spinnhütte AG“ in 1932 and in the context of the majority share acquisition in 1938 by the Ministry of Economics, the „Mitteldeutsche Spinnhütte GmbH“ founded in 1937 with its subsidiary in Plauen/ Vogtland.
On July 1st 1946 the factory in Plauen was expropriated by the Soviet military administration and subsequently operated under the name „VEB Mitteldeutsche Spinnhütte, VEB Novotex“ and „VEB Greika Werk IV / 3“ until 1990. Already in 1990, the former factory of Plauener Spinnhütte was reacquired by the Greika Thuringen Weberei & Veredlungs GmbH (formerly Greika VEB). In 1996 the two manufacturing sites in Plauen merged to Plauener Spinnhütte GmbH. As a manufacturer of technically demanding products made of silk, polyester and polyamide „Plauener Seidenweberei GmbH“ is approaching its 90-year anniversary. Since 2013 the Plauener Seidenweberei GmbH designs, manufactures and sells their luxury products under its original brand “Seidenweber Collection®“
PRODUCTION
All From One Hand
Plauener Seidenweberei GmbH manufactures filament fabrics from silk, polyester and polyamide for the most varied textile applications. Technical yarns, as for instance, flame-retardant or electrically conductive materials are used in a wide range of products.
The production range includes the areas doubling mill, warp production, weaving, finishing and assembly. A flexible response to customer needs is therefore always guaranteed.
YARN PREPARATION
As one of the largest producers of natural silk in Germany the Plauener Seidenweberei GmbH marketed different silk yarns as Grege, Trame, Taffeta, silk waste and Bourrette. The silk weaving offers both yarns in different presentations and specially prepared for warp knitting and weaving.
DOUBLING MILL
As one of the few companies in Germany, we are able to wrap the yarn strand to abzuwindenund on coil. Additionally can finish and oils are applied to the yarn.
This allows us the silk thread (Grege) optimal for the subsequent processes in the Ketthersphonelung and weaving preparation and thus was the high quality of our products.
WARP PRODUCTION
Here up to 40,000 filaments of coils abgewicklet processed into a warp and checked electronically for errors. This house owned treatment allows us the ideal chains prepare for further processing in the weaving.
WEAVING
Plauener Seidenweberei manufactures besides rapier and air-jet Webmaschienen on modern jacquard - looms up to 40,000 warp and a width of 320 cm.
Here, both individual customers as well as our exclusive designs, house designs are translated translated into the highest quality.
FINISHING
Our years of experience with the most sophisticated natural fiber silk and their following processing technology allows us, for example, to prepare silk fabric for down proof quality and with our modern machine park resource-saving and environmentally friendly refine according to DIN EN ISO 14001 and DIN EN ISO 9001.
ASSEMBLY
In the house's own clothing both Customisation orders and the products of its own brand Seidenweber Collection by joint international standarts are manually processed.
